PropCollector Visits Star Wars: Identities Exhibition (Edmonton, Alberta)

February 27th, 2013 by PropCollector

I recently visited the Star Wars: Identities exhibition here in Edmonton and it was fantastic!  At $30 admission, worth it in my opinion for fans of the franchise if it makes an appearance in your area.  It is very entertaining for both children and adults as there is a ten step process throughout the exhibit, in which you create your own character in the Star Wars universe.  The rest (and best, for us prop collectors) of the display is made up of iconic original props, costumes, set pieces and artwork from the production of the original films as well as the modern prequels.

Since this was a somewhat spontaneous visit with friends, I used my phone to snap the pictures.  Here they are for your enjoyment!

Hear Ye Prop Collectors! What’s in Store for 2011 Season

March 10th, 2011 by PropCollector

It has been a somewhat slower year in the hobby for me, however there have been some significant additions to the collection within the last six months or so.

The most significant event of 2010-2011 (ongoing) for me, was the conclusion of the hit TV series, 24.  In coming weeks I will be adding a number of items from ’24′ to the collection here at PropCollector.com.

Jackets & Props from ’24′:

-Jack Bauer’s (Kiefer Sutherland) Screen Matched (both pieces) Jacket & Military Style Rucksack from ‘Redemption’, a two-hour special filmed on location on the continent of Africa.

-Chloe O’Brian’s (Mary Lynn Rajskub) Jacket from Season 7.

-Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) CTU Jacket from Season 2.

-Agent Mike Doyle’s (Rick Schroder) Jacket and CTU ID Badge from Season 6.

In addition to these pieces, I was also able to add some cool items from two films I very much enjoyed.  One is a Quentin Tarantino work, the other an Oscar-winning project by the famous Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan.

Props from Inglourious Basterds:

-Basterd Hugo Stiglitz’s (Til Schweiger) Hero SS issued Dagger w/ sheath Prop.

-Hitler’s (Martin Wuttke) Swastika Map Marker Prop.

Jacket from No Country for Old Men:

-Llewelyn Moss’s (Josh Brolin) Screen Matched Jacket.

There are always odds and ends from different movies hanging around here too…alas, if only there were more time in the day…

Going out over the next few months, I will be working hard to add as much new content as I can produce.  So check back, and thanks for visiting!

Happy Collecting!

Coming Soon! PropCollector.com Summer Preview 2010

July 1st, 2010 by PropCollector

2010 is shaping up nicely here at PropCollector.com!

These days I continue to add to the collection, albeit more slowly than in years before.  With that said, there are some cool additions coming that I very much hope you will enjoy perusing.

So check back for these new additions and more over the course of July and into August.

As the hobby of Prop Collecting becomes more and more popular in the mainstream, top bar pieces are becoming harder and harder to acquire.

Advice to those starting out: definitely save your money for as long as possible, and get that, or those items that truly stand out and represent the property(ies) you love.  As you become more acclimated to the hobby and your tastes evolve, you will find that satisfaction with hard-won items is much longer and more fruitful than a piece that is shown, but far less consequential or meaningful to the story or character that you love.

So go ahead, save up and go to that next level with your collection!  You won’t be sorry! :)

Happy Collecting!
